Description
Sound is part of a vibrant city like Amsterdam, but if sound is long-lasting, loud and unwanted it can also be very annoying. Also, noise can lead to sleep disturbance or health problems, such as high blood pressure. The sound map Amsterdam shows the (calculated) noise load for the most important traffic sources in the city. The largest noise load occurs near roads, railways and the arrival and exit routes at Schiphol. Road traffic leads to the most inconvenience in Amsterdam. In addition to traffic, there is also a lot of inconvenience from neighbors and of construction and demolition noise.
