Description
Bee-friendly forests are primarily diverse, rich in species and rich in structure. Wild bees live on sunken forest edges, in forest clearings or in open forests with sufficient soil flora. The composition of the tree species, e.g. with pollen and nectar-giving deciduous trees, and structures with sufficient light and space for food supply (flowers) are crucial for the attractiveness of the habitat. In particular, tiered forest edges are conducive to the variety of flowering and wild bee species. In these nutrient-poor, extensively used zones, there are many food and breeding opportunities. Other bee-promoting measures in forest management include small-scale interventions to create open spaces, the abandonment of waste wood islands and dead wood, and the protection of endangered forest ecosystems.
