Description
Created on the initiative of the City prior to its designation as European Capital of Culture, the association frEsch asbl (F12816, registration number 2020 6101 122-99) was created with the objective of implementing the municipal cultural strategy [Connections] on the territory of the City, in particular by supporting, managing or accompanying events, projects and creative places contributing to the implementation of the municipal cultural plan, on the one hand, and coordinating the cultural heritage covered by the European Capital of Culture project on its territory, on the other.
The association frEsch asbl provides financial support for the sustainability at the municipal level of artistic cultural activities that were born within the framework of the European Capital of Culture Esch2022 and that continue to contribute to enriching the City and, by extension, the Luxembourg cultural environment. In this context, the association frEsch asbl also managed the municipal cultural infrastructure Bridderhaus and Konschthal, as well as the city’s flagship cultural events, such as the Nuit de la culture and the Francofolies music festival.
The Ministry of Culture provided financial support to the cultural activities of the Bridderhaus and Konschthal through the conclusion in 2023 of an agreement with the association frEsch asbl for the term of one year.
Following the integration of these two institutions into the administrative arm of the Municipality of Esch-sur-Alzette from this financial year and before the establishment of a municipal cultural pact between the Ministry of Culture and the City, the Ministry of Culture reconfirms its financial commitment by concluding this single agreement concerning the activities emanating from these cultural institutions as well as the activities of the Municipal Theatre & Ariston of the City of Esch-sur-Alzette and the Municipal Conservatory of the City of Esch-sur-Alzette. Agreements and riders previously signed with the City shall be terminated by mutual agreement with the signing of this Agreement. The financial commitments entered into in these 2005 agreements are set out in this agreement, which also takes account of the fact that /'Ariston has been taken over by the Théâtre municipal d'Esch-Alzette through an increase in the allocation.
