Suspected area cadastre and contaminated atlas. Stand: January 1, 2023.
Description
As of January 1, 2023, 70.379 old sites and Altablagers as well as 341 contaminated sites are known in Austria. The recording of old sites is largely completed. In 2022, ten contaminated sites were identified, four were refurbished or secured. This is shown in the annual report on suspected area cadastre and contaminated atlas of the Federal Environment Agency. The basis for the processing is the legacy remediation law, which provides that the areas covered are processed. Essential for this are the investigation of suspected areas and the assessment of the environmental hazard, which emanates or may result from altar deposits and old sites. The report provides information on the processing status of the areas covered and the progress made in the rehabilitation of contaminated sites throughout the federal territory and in the individual federal states.
