USAID Advancing Nutrition Study on Feeding Difficulties and Disabilities

Description

This data asset contains the data from the non-systematic scoping review conducted by The U.S. Agency for International Development’s (USAID) flagship multi-sectoral nutrition project, USAID Advancing Nutrition, of programs supporting nutritional care of children with disability and non-disability related feeding difficulties. The scoping review was conducted in 2021/2022 and included a desk review of peer-reviewed and non-peer reviewed literature, and key informant interviews. In all, 187 documents, ranging in publication date from 2003 to 2022, were identified through keyword searches and snowballing, and 127 were deemed eligible for inclusion after screening. Additionally, 42 experts in nutrition and disability were interviewed. The review looked at persistent feeding difficulties in all children, feeding difficulties and nutrition among children with disabilities, small and sick newborns, and malnutrition treatment among children with a feeding difficulty, whether or not they had a disability.
