Description
1-To determine the influence of the hydrographic scenario on the structure, distribution and condition of larval Atlantic bluefin tuna populations in the Balearic Sea. 2-Evaluate the reliability of the laying habitat models already developed for the species, including the first versions of the operational model. 3-Define the trophic ecology of Atlantic bluefin tuna larvae and postlarvae in the Balearic Sea, considering both their direct or indirect relationship with other planktonic groups (bacterial, micro and mesozooplanktonpicoplankton), as well as the interactions between tuna larvae of different species and/or sizes. 4-Calculate a Larval Index for the estimation of spawning stock biomass. 5- Obtain calibration coefficients that allow standardizing the results obtained in quantitative sampling of tuna larvae with different types of nets and fishing methodologies. 6-Determine the environmental influence on the vertical structuring of tuna larval populations, and of this, considering their nictimeral and ontogenetic variations, in some of the biological and physiological parameters of the larvae.
