Description
The objectives pursued have been the investigation of the morphostructure, seismic stratigraffy and geodynamic evolution of the plates and sub-plates that constitute the environment of the sea of Scotia and Pen?nsula Ant?rtica. The general objectives can be summarized in the following points: a) Transition between different plates and sub-plates; Shetland, Drake, Scotia and Ant??rtica and their points of union. Study of the link between the Bransfield expansion centre and the South Shetlands subduction area. c) Detailed morphostructural analysis of a shear plate edge and one of the large intracrestate depressions (Hesperides pit), using multibeam probes.. see Figure : batim??trico map of the "Hesperides" Trench d) Establishment of geomagn?tic guidelines in the Bransfield expansion zone and on the edges of shear plates. e) Study of the formation of fillings and regional discontinuities in the basins adjacent to the dorsal. f) Application of the models studied within the international work plans in oceanic ridges (InterRidge project
