Description
The ECOMED 2006 is an annual echosurvey for estimation of the abundance and biomass of small pelagic fish present in the Mediterranean Sea in autum, at the beginning of spawning period for the sardine (Sardina pilchardus) and the recruitmen period for the anchovy (Engraulis encrasicolus).These main species are sardine and anchovy, but on estimed also Sardinella aurita, Trachurus mediterraneus, T. trachurus, T. picturatus, Boops boops, Scomber japonicus and Scomber scomber. Complementary to this main objectives, also sampling for sardine fecundity parameters estimation. Continuous fish eggs sampling and temperature and salinity for sardine spawning area characterisation.
