AECM grassland and pastoral systems - Department of the Territory of Belfort
Description
The specifications for the ‘systems’ measures apply to the entire agricultural holding. In France, there are three types of measures with system challenges:
- the AECM " Field Crop Systems"
- the AECM "polyculture-livestock systems"
- the AECM "grassland and pastoral systems"
These "system" DFAITs consist in proposing a global commitment of a farm rather than the commitment of only a few parcels on which there is an environmental issue. We are therefore moving from a specification to the plot, built from a combination of unit commitments, to a specification applicable to the entire farm.
**In the Territory of Belfort, the AECM "grassland and pastoral systems" (SHP) was chosen**. Indeed, this AECM, located at the heart of the preservation of biodiversity, is a key element of the CEAP of the Territoire de Belfort. Through its implementation, the Departmental Council wishes to limit the intensification of practices to maintain extensive agriculture linked to cattle breeding, encourage the maintenance of prairiaux environments, and preserve the remarkable plant and animal species subservient to these areas.
This measure also makes it possible to extend eligible areas outside Natura 2000 sites throughout the territory of Belfort.
In order to be able to commit to the SHP measure, the farmer must be at the head of an agricultural holding with at least 70% grass. In addition, a floristic diagnosis must prove that 30% of this grass area is compatible with the specifications specific to this measure, that is to say that on each third of the plots, at least 4 biodiversity-indicating plants must be present. These areas that host a rich floristic biodiversity are also called "target areas".
