Description
The European Directive on the Assessment and Management of Ambient Noise (25/06/02) aims to:
Mapping noise on a large scale
Bringing the public to the attention of the public
Developing Noise Prevention Plans in the Environment (PPBE)
The purpose of strategic noise maps is to assess exposure to noise and raise public awareness of the health effects of noise.
The noise sources concerned are:
Land transport (roads, railways)
Main industrial activities (ICPE-A)
Strategic noise maps have limitations of use: these are non-enforceable information documents with approximations
Mandatory update every 5 years
Average Night Industrial Sound Level data relate to:
sectors subject to the different noise levels of industrial activity per 5 dB range from 22h to 6h.
