Natura 2000: Protection of birds

Description

A Community bird protection area is one of three types of international nature protection area: EC Bird Protection Areas, EC Habitats Areas and Ramsar Areas. The first two are collectively referred to as Natura 2000 sites. The habitats of many bird species are deteriorating or are directly threatened. Bird protection areas help maintain and secure habitats. In Denmark, the areas are especially important for many waterfowl. Each area has been designated to protect certain bird species.
