Hepatitis of unknown origin in children

Description

As of 5 April 2022, the United Kingdom (UK) began notifying the World Health Organization (WHO) of an increase in cases of severe acute hepatitis of unknown aetiology in previously healthy children under 16 years of age. To facilitate epidemiological investigations into disease transmission dynamics and support clinical and public health decisions, these data provide a resource for an overview of hepatitis cases of unknown origin in children aged 16 years and younger reported to ECDC through the European Surveillance System (TESSy) and made available through a weekly report at https://cdn.ecdc.europa.eu/novhep-surveillance/
