Environmental Economic Assessment of Remediation Measures of Contaminated Sites
Description
The selection of remediation measures at contaminated sites must be geared primarily to ecological aspects, in accordance with the statutory main objective of remediation of contaminated sites. However, economic aspects must also be taken into account in order to ensure optimal use of economic resources. Austria does not currently use a standardised assessment tool to compare remedial measures with regard to their environmental and economic impacts. The report of the Federal Environment Agency presents numerous environmental economic evaluation procedures and evaluates whether these can be applied in the context of future site management in Austria. It turns out that a system is best suited on the basis of a cost-effectiveness analysis.
