Greenhouse gas emissions from electricity
Description
When preparing life cycle assessments for companies, processes and products, electricity consumption and associated greenhouse gas emissions are accounted for. The decisive foundations are the calculation methodology and the composition of the electricity mix. The report analyses current developments in electricity labelling and the impact of trade in guarantees of origin. In addition, different accounting procedures are assessed on the basis of selected criteria. Based on this, recommendations for the accounting of electricity in life cycle assessments are derived and the results of international research are compared. In addition, the report contains different options for electricity consumers to specifically reduce greenhouse gas emissions.
