Description
In order to increase safety and combat the nuisance in public space, the municipality can take a number of measures, including the use of camera surveillance. The areas where camera surveillance is now deployed are included in this dataset. Camera surveillance has a high level of support among citizens and entrepreneurs in Amsterdam. Victims of robbery and burglaries call for camera surveillance and therefore feel much safer. Camera surveillance is customisation. Not only does the commitment require a keen eye for the seriousness of the problem (proportionality) and to what extent the desired result can be achieved with other instruments (subsidiarity), privacy and the use of financial resources require sharp choices. There is a careful assessment of whether the use of camera surveillance in an area is necessary. The mayor decides to use camera surveillance in an area for a certain period of time.
