Notifications of epizootics in Switzerland
Description
The BLV's InfoSM database (= information system for disease reports) contains information on all outbreaks of notifiable animal diseases in Switzerland since 1991.
In order to correctly interpret the data, it is necessary to include the surveillance strategy for each animal disease at the time of the case notification. If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to contact us.
The communications of the Federal Food Safety and Veterinary Office – Bulletin for short – publish the latest disease reports on a weekly basis.
The notification obligation (Tierseuchenverordnung Art. 61) obliges all persons who keep, care for or treat animals to report outbreaks of animal diseases (Tierseuchengesetz Art. 1) or suspicious observations to a veterinarian. The reporting obligation also applies to bees, fish and wild animals. Reporting centres are the bee inspector, the cantonal body responsible for fisheries or the cantonal veterinary office.
