**History of administration:**
The cadastre of the Grand Duchy of Luxembourg has its origins in the 18th century. The decrees of August 21, 1791 and September 23, 1791, authorize the directorates of the departments to order the lifting of the lands. Luxembourg, under the French administration, became the Forestry Department and applied these decrees between 1795 and 1796.
The Royal-Grand-Ducal Decree of 20 November 1857 decreed the merger of the cadastre with the Administration des Contributions. This symbiosis ended with the Grand-Ducal Decree of 26 September 1945 to see the birth of a new administration: the Cadastre Administration.
**Principal missions:**
- The creation, management, updating and dissemination of the official land and cartographic documentation of the Grand Duchy of Luxembourg.
- Official measurements in the Grand Duchy, regulated by the law of 25 July 2002 establishing and regulating the professions of surveyor and official surveyor. Measurements are carried out and supervised by ACT.
- The management of national geodetic networks.
- The management of the national register of localities and streets
