Air Navigation Administration Sorting Table
Description
_Air Navigation Administration sorting table based on the ArcategTM repository. Convention drafted in French and signed electronically on 28/06/2021 by the Director of the ANA and the Director of the ANLux._
**History of administration:**
Air navigation missions follow the history of aviation from the 1930s to the present day. The 1930s marked the beginning of sport aviation on the Findel site. A first law allowing the construction of an airport and regulating air traffic was then passed.
In 1945 the beginnings of air navigation services and a meteorological service arrived. Luxembourg Findel airport was officially opened on 12 August 1946, and commercial and leisure air traffic intensified. This activity is governed by the Law of 22 June 1949 on the organisation of airport services. The Airport Authority was established by the Law of 26 July 1952. The latter is responsible, inter alia, for managing and operating Luxembourg airport, ensuring the flow of air traffic, ensuring meteorological assistance to air navigation and responding to disasters.
The enrichment of the administration’s tasks is governed by the Law of 21 December 2007 establishing the Administration.
air navigation. Between 2012 and today, the ANA receives numerous certifications and recognitions such as:
- The Air Navigation Service Provider by the Civil Aviation Directorate
- The Luxembourg Award for Quality and Excellence
- The certificate of good practice awarded in the framework of the European Award for Excellence in the Public Sector (EPSA 2019).
- ISO 14001 environmental certification
The ANA is also involved in international networks such as:
- The Civil Air Navigation Services Organisation (CANSO)
- The Single European Sky (SES) initiative
- The Functional Airspace Block Europe Central (FABEC)
**Principal missions:**

- Ensure air traffic management (ATM) in Luxembourg airspace and provide operational aerodrome services.
- Ensure adequate radio navigation, radar guidance and aeronautical communications coverage for the airspace to be managed, and operate and maintain these facilities.
- Develop and implement an integrated safety, security and quality management programme.
- Prevent collisions between aircraft on the manoeuvring area and obstacles on that area.
- Responding to an aircraft accident or incident at Luxembourg airport and its surroundings.
- Provide aeronautical information necessary for the safety, regularity and efficiency of air navigation, to carry out preliminary departure operations and arrival formalities of aircraft.
- Providing meteorological assistance to air navigation, managing and disseminating climatological data and providing national meteorological services.
- Ensure routine maintenance and upkeep of green areas and lighting.
**Regulatory references:**
- Law of 21 December 2007 establishing the Air Navigation Administration
