Austrian Biodiversity Monitoring (ÖBM) — Cultural Landscape.
Description
Biodiversity is the basis of life and is influenced by a variety of abiotic, biotic and anthropogenic factors. At present, however, the data situation in Austria is too weak to derive representative and robust biodiversity trends. The present study develops a concept for an Austrian biodiversity monitoring of the open cultural landscape (ÖBM cultural landscape) — outside the forest and outside settlement areas. The data enable the collection of the status and trends of Austrian biodiversity in the open air. The focus is on monitoring habitat and biodiversity throughout Germany. Remote sensing provides other important biodiversity-relevant variables. The concept of the ÖBM cultural landscape was successfully used in the first 49 recording areas in 2017.
