Status report waste incineration.
Description
The status report provides an overview of the waste incineration plants in Austria. On the basis of data and information from the operating companies, the technological structure of the plants is described and environmental data such as air and water emissions are presented. The status report also highlights the main innovations in the 2019 EU document “Conclusions on Best Available Techniques for Waste Incineration”. Further chapters discuss how waste incineration can contribute to circular economy and climate neutrality. Important aspects are the recovery of raw materials, the function as a pollutant sink in the cycle, or the provision of district heating and cooling, which can reduce CO2 emissions.
