Statistical sectors Ghent
Description
The concept of 'statistical sector' was introduced in 1970 by the National
Institute of Statistics (NIS). Previously, the town was the smallest.
administrative entity for which socio-economic data
were available.
The statistical sectors shall divide the territory into:
basis of morphological and/or socio-economic characteristics. The boundary
of statistical sectors usually coincides with clear
landscape recognizable elements or administrative/administrative
layouts. Many inventories are generalized into information
at the level of the statistical sector.
