DESCRIPTION: Biosphere Reserves are "areas of terrestrial or coastal/marine ecosystems, or a combination thereof, recognised as such at an international level under the UNESCO MAB Programme". They serve to promote harmoniously the integration of populations and nature, in order to promote sustainable development through participatory dialogue, the exchange of knowledge, poverty reduction, the improvement of well-being, respect for cultural values and the capacity of society to adapt to changes. .
