Map Viewing Service - Coast Line
Description
Coast line compiled from electronic nautical mapping of purposes 4 and 5 for navigation. This service represents the coast line from the Official Nautical Cartography (ENC and Paper) at the best available scale by sections, produced by the Hydrographic Institute of the Navy. From the point of view of nautical cartography, the coastline is a double line, composed of the high-water mark and the low-water mark, so that it delimits, horizontally, the transition zone between land and sea where the tides are appreciable and which are confused into a single one where they are not. The low-water line is determined by the Hydrographic Zero. The 'Line of Pleamar' is the horizontal line that is determined by the maximum advance of the tide towards land.
