XINM: Network of Non-Motorized Routes in the Valencian Community

Description

The XINM digital catalog is the alphanumeric and geographic dataset of cycle routes in the Valencian Community.It is a network with implicit topology that includes all non-motorized infrastructure currently in service in the Valencian Community. The basic geometric entities that are maintained and updated are CYCLE ROUTES: long routes that give structure to the network and establish connection axes between the main towns (or other places of interest) in Valencia; SECTIONS: subdivision of cycle routes for functional reasons, allowing for a more detailed analysis of the infrastructure; SEGMENTS: new division of sections into segments with homogeneous characteristics; KILOMETRIC POINTS: unique points in the network that allow location on the XINM routes. The network is accompanied by useful information such as the route name, hierarchy, typology, physical characteristics, and functional characteristics of the network. The XINM catalog also includes routes that highlight the tourist and heritage attractions of the Valencian Community, such as: Greenways (former railway lines converted into cycle routes), EuroVelo EV-8 (a network of long-distance cycle routes that cross Europe), the Metropolitan Green Cycle-Pedestrian Ring of Valencia, the Antic Trenet (a nature trail that recovers part of the route of the old railway from Carcaixent to Dénia for recreational use), the Salt Train (a greenway of the old salt train from San Isidro to Torrevieja), and the Coastal Route (promoted by the Territorial Action Plan for Coastal Green Infrastructure of the Generalitat Valenciana itself). The development of this project is part of the mobility strategy of the Generalitat Valenciana (which is in turn aligned with the objectives of other framework strategies at European, state and regional level), aimed at reducing the level of motorization and the dependence on oil of the transport model of the Valencian Community, thereby reducing the negative impacts on energy, the environment and health
