WMS Meteorological Observation System
Description
The Meteorological Observation System of the Government of the Canary Islands is an infrastructure promoted by the Ministry of Ecological Transition, Combating Climate Change and Territorial Planning, which integrates a network of stations equipped with meteorological sensors and servers responsible for the administration of the network and the storage, quality control and dissemination of the recorded data. This network is conceived as an infrastructure complementary to those already existing, and managed by other administrations, and essential for the exercise of competences such as those related to Climate Change or the monitoring of Adverse Meteorological Phenomena (FMA). According to Directive (EU) 2019/1024 this system manages a high-value dataset that is available for reuse.
The information recorded by the Canary Islands Meteorological Observation System is available for download on the SITCAN portal open data. Observations associated with the stations are also available through a API REST, according to the specification OpenAPI, which exposes a data model aligned with the OGC SensorThings API Part 1: Sensing.
When clicking on each station the service returns the last data recorded by the sensor.
