Orientation of General Agricultural Uses
Description
The project to carry out a mapping of agroecological units and to guide general agricultural uses, carried out between 2010 and 2011, has been promoted by the Regional Ministry of Rural Environment and Fisheries of the Government of the Principality of Asturias, with the aim of obtaining, for the whole of the territory, a map base at 1:50.000 scale, reflecting an orientation of general agricultural uses, within the framework of the policies of the European Union for the conservation of the soil resource, and also taking into account the guidelines of Law 45/2007 of 13 December 2007 on Sustainable Development of the Rural Environment.
The units of territory that constitute this map include synthetic information on agrological, soil and agroclimatic parameters, thus defining the so-called Agroecological Units, which constitute the basis for guidance on the suitable agricultural uses for each unit of territory. This orientation of uses has been carried out through an evaluation method that establishes, in short, a comparison between the characteristics presented by each unit and the requirements required by each of the general uses considered.
