Web map display service, according to the WMS-OGC standard, which covers the subject of statistical units (item 1, Annex III of the INSPIRE Directive: Su — Statistical Units). The topic Statistical Units in INSPIRE is interested in the stable and well-identified representations of the spatial or localisation units that are used as a geographical reference for statistical data. Each position unit is related to the associated statistical data by a unique identifier. The specification guide gives some recommendations for defining these identifiers, as they are especially important for the exchange of information between agencies. Other INSPIRE themes, such as Population Distribution (Annex III item 10), use this reference mechanism. Annex C elaborates on this issue. Since there are many types of statistical units (censional districts, planning areas, environmental units for monitoring, etc.) these specifications are limited to providing a generic data model that describes common characteristics.
