Matera 2019 Committee Survey (by DataContact)

Description

Survey with data collected by Datacontact (www.datacontact.it) on the perception and expectations of Matera 2019 candidacy in Basilicata, commissioned by the Matera 2019 Committee. The survey involved a thousand Lucanian citizens, 600 of whom were in Matera city, 108 in the province of Matera, 239 in the province of Potenza and the rest in Potenza city. Among the most interesting news that emerged, it should certainly be remembered that 91.7% of Lucanians consider the role of culture to be important in the economy of the future. 57.8% of the people surveyed also believe that the cultural offer evaluation proposed by the city has increased even if it needs to be further improved. Still on the subject of candidacy for European Capital of Culture, 55.1 % of Lucanians are proud that Matera has been included among the 6 finalist cities. When asked to support the candidacy, 33% of respondents replied that foreign tourists would be available at home, 54% would be willing to participate as a volunteer for Matera2019, 57.2% would like to be the protagonist of a cultural project, 69.5% could join Matera2019 initiatives to make the city more beautiful. You release the tables with the questions and the report for the visualization that also contains the rationales and statistical methods applied.
