EUROSHELL - Shellfish production sites
Description
Shellfish production sites can take on several realities. Sometimes their identification is regulatory and is used for the sanitary classification of production areas. In the Euroshell project, the choice was made to map production areas whose identification makes sense for both scientists and professionals. It is then a limited number of areas, often corresponding to a hydrographic reality. Indeed, shellfish farming is mainly installed in estuaries, mouths, bays, fjords, rias or lagoons.
This map shows the French shellfish production sites, each of which includes several zones. Some information is given concerning the species produced, the number of companies and/or concessions and/or producers, the approximate quantity of production.
