Description
It shows the urban centers of first order in the area of Río Mula, Vega Alta del Segura and Oriental of the Region of Murcia in addition to the urban groups of second and third order that articulate the territory.
The Settlement System of the Mula, Vega Alta and Oriental River area consists of three functional levels composed of the following population entities, including the rural areas defined in Article 63 of Legislative Decree 1/2005 of 10 June 2005 approving the consolidated text of the Land Law of the Region of Murcia.
First-order nuclei: Abanilla, Abarán, Albudeite, Blanca, Campos del Río, Cieza, Fortuna, Mula, Ojós, Pliego, Ricote, Ulea and Villanueva del Río Segura.
b) Second order cores: Barinas, Mahoya-La Huerta, Macisvenda (Abanilla), Hoya del Campo, San José Artesano, Abarán-Virgen del Oro (Abarán), Alto Palomo, Estación (Blanca), Ascoy (Cieza), Los Baños, La Matanza (Fortuna), Fuente Librilla-Los Ojos, El Niño, La Puebla , Yéchar (Mula), Virgen del Carmen, Barrio de San Roque (Villanueva).
Third-order nuclei: other cores defined in the official gazetteer.
The criterion of polycentrism is the criterion established in the Guidelines of the Mula River, Vega Alta and Oriental as a priority criterion in the management and endowment of settlement systems, thus promoting territorial balance and the development of the functionality of the different settlements with criteria of complementarity.
This is how the following hierarchization of equipment is applied:
First-order nuclei: Supraregional, regional, supramunicipal and local equipment.
b) Second order cores: Supramunicipal and local equipment.
Third-order centres and small rural centres: Local equipment.
