Description
It shows the Functional Areas that have been defined in the Guidelines and Territorial Planning Plan of the District of the Altiplano of the Region of Murcia, understanding these as those areas of the territory that constitute areas with homogeneous behavior in their socioeconomic dynamics and in their relations with the rest of the District territory, having common geographical and physical elements that allow a unitary planning and development. The Functional Areas identified are: urban functional area (focuses on the two urban centres of Jumilla and Yecla and their peri-urban development, as well as the districts of the Alqueria, the Estacada and Fuente del Pino de Jumilla and those of Campo Arriba and Campo Abajo de Yecla, which make up the residential area around the main nucleus), rural functional area (this covers an extensive territory that includes the incardinated plains in the mountain systems that cross the territory from southwest to northeast. These are mixed agricultural-forest mosaics and agricultural land marked by small rural centers, and districts that are especially concentrated in the surroundings of the Sierra del Carche) and Forest area (comprises more than a quarter of the territory, and is located in the mountainous alignments and in part of the natural areas).
