Tuscany Region – Traffic data monitoring system on regional roads
Description
 The Region of Tuscany, as the owner of 1,450 km of roads, implemented an automated monitoring system for traffic flows on regional roads in 2015. The project was financed through POR CReO FESR resources, integrated with the resources of the National Road Safety Plan.
The monitoring system data are useful for assessing the correlation between the intensity of vehicular flows and road accidents, for the preparation of forecasting and decision support models necessary for transport planning, the planning and design of interventions on road infrastructure, the management of the road network, the activation of an infomobility service aimed at the public.
The traffic monitoring system on the regional roads consists of 109 stations installed in 2015 in the sections of greatest interest from the point of view of traffic volumes and type, 19 additional stations installed in 2017 and 4 stations on the regional road no. 206 owned by the Province of Livorno.
In November 2018, in implementation of the Prime Ministerial Decree of 20 February 2018, the road network of national and regional interest was redefined. The dataset contains the data of the 19 measuring stations located in former regional road sections transferred to the State, which continue to be part of the monitoring system of the Tuscany Region.

From 2009 to 2013 it operated a previous traffic monitoring system on regional roads, consisting of 30 stations, the data of which can be downloaded at: http://www.regione.toscana.it/-/traffic-data-on-regional roads
It should be noted that the data come from the automatic processing of the data collected from the measuring stations, so they are not checked and verified. Regione Toscana disclaims any responsibility for the use of data. Users are required to cite the source in any publication, professional work or other production obtained using the data provided.
