Butterflies, diversity through wilderness
Description
Who would have thought that the Kalkalpen National Park houses more than 1,500 different butterflies? This area of around 200 square kilometres is considered one of the last large-area wilderness areas in Central Europe, characterised by natural forests, unobstructed wild streams and original mountain landscape. In many places lost butterflies find a final retreat here and many of them can still be observed frequently.
