Salt habitats in Austria. In the Austrian National Park Neusiedler See — Seewinkel in Burgenland, there are still about 40 small salty lakes, the salt varnishes of the Seewinkel, on an area of 25 km². The largest and most famous is the so-called Lange Lacke. Other are the pearwood varnishes, the fox hole varnishes and the darscho. Other salt biotopes exist in the northern Weinviertel near Zwingendorf and near Baumgarten an der March.
