Flash Eurobarometer FL511 : Citizens' perceptions about competition policy

Description

83% agree that competition allows for more choice for consumers and 82% that it encourages innovation and economic growth. The level of agreement is also high for the goals of allowing for better prices for consumers (74%). 54% of respondents have experienced a problem – such as higher prices, less choice or lower quality – caused by a lack of competition in one of the sectors listed in the survey (energy, food retailing, telecommunications and Internet access, transport services, pharmaceutical products, education and human services and financial services).
