Red list of bumblebees (Bombus spp.) of Austria.
Description
For the first time, a national red list of bumblebees (genus Bombus) of Austria is presented. Of the 45 Austrian bumblebee species, three species are extinct, five species are at immediate risk of extinction, seven species are highly endangered and two species are endangered. Five species are on the alert list; Nearly half of the species are not endangered. The main sources of risk are agricultural-related factors and, for some highly cold-adapted species, direct climate change impacts.
