Register of radiation sources
Description
The register of sources of radiation in the field of industry and research is kept by the Nuclear Safety Administration of the Republic of Slovenia as a public register. The contents of the register are set out in the Ionising Radiation Protection and Nuclear Safety Act (ZVISJV-1), and the detailed content and method of management are laid down in the Rules on the Use of Radiation Sources and Radiation Activities (JV2/SV2). The radiation sources kept in the register are sources containing radioactive material with activity above the exemption limit, x-rays and other electrical devices emitting ionising radiation. The data to be kept shall be as follows:
— name, registered office and address of the holder of the authorisation to use the radiation source,
— code and date of authorisation for the use of a radiation source,
— the validity of the authorisation to use a radiation source,
the place where the radiation source is used and stored,
— conditions for the use of a radiation source,
— whether it is a stationary or mobile source of radiation,
— the radiation source record code established by the registry operator,
— the type of radiation activity with the radiation source,
— the purpose and method of use,
— information on the source of radiation, such as: the type of isotope and activity at a given date, in the case of radioactive material, or the maximum anode voltage and current at the x-ray device; and
— the serial number of the radiation source and the serial number of the protective container or device, in the case of a closed source of radiation, or the serial number of the x-ray tube and the serial number of the housing in the case of an x-ray device,
— estimating emissions into the environment if it is an open source of radiation and if radioactive waste is generated by the use of the radiation source: an estimate of the quantity and activity of radioactive waste,
— start date and date of cessation of use of the radiation source in the case of radioactive material: date of delivery of the radiation source to the statutory public service of radioactive waste management or return to the producer or transfer to another radiation operator, in the case of an x-ray installation: date of professional decomposition,
— the frequency of the necessary checks on the radiation source, the date of the last inspection and the validity of the inspection and the conclusions of the inspection.
The register of radiation sources in the health and veterinary sector is kept as a public register by the authority responsible for radiation protection.
