Reduction potential in the agriculture sector
Description
In this report, the Federal Environment Agency presents the potential of measures to reduce ammonia emissions in agriculture. These measures concern feeding and animal husbandry, storage and application of farm manure and use of mineral fertilisers for the four relevant types of holding: Cattle farms (feed farms), processing plants in the pig and poultry sectors and the market crops (arable farming). The measures were quantified individually for each measure. In addition to the theoretical (maximum possible) reduction potentials, the technical (practical possible) reduction potentials were also calculated. The results show that the measures at the beginning and at the end of the nitrogen chain (feeding and application) have the greatest emission reduction potential. The report complements REP-0569 from 2016.
