Residues from food and beverage production
Description
In Austria, an estimated 1.26 million tonnes of predominantly plant residues are generated annually in food, consumption and feed production. Despite numerous existing prevention and recovery steps, there is still potential to further reduce and improve the treatment of this waste. The report provides an overview of the legal framework, assesses the occurrence of residues from these branches of production, describes treatment procedures and shows ways of further improving the use of these residues. The annex contains the material sheets for each type of waste in the field of food, consumption and feed production and a table on the ciphering of food and beverage wastes that are treated biologically.
