N.B. The dataset is no longer up to date as the competence on companies subject to the Seveso Directive has passed to the national level. The data therefore represent a historical view of the data, having been updated until they were the responsibility of the regional level.The data represents the areas of impact generated by the occurrence of major accidents in a Seveso plant (subject to Legislative Decree 334/1999). These areas are called damage areas and are modelled on the basis of the possible incidental types listed in Legislative Decree No 9/05/2001 (Decree implementing Legislative Decree No 334/1999). For each incidental hypothesis, a frequency of occurrence and multiple areas of damage are calculated: each damage area identifies a threshold value beyond which lethality, injury or damage occurs (limits indicated in the Ministerial Decree of 9 May 2001). The value of the thresholds depends on the chemical-physical characteristics of the substance involved in the accident. Any incidental event, normally represented in circular form, is also characterised by a centre of danger which is the point at which the major accident may occur and thus the origin of the areas of damage. Each hazard centre may be associated with one or more incidental hypotheses.All information is managed by the SIAR - Information System Activities at Risk of Major Accident - in the alphanumeric and geographical components.All data that contribute to defining an incidental hypothesis (hypotheses, scenarios, areas of damage, frequency of occurrence, centre of danger) are declared by the operators of the establishments in the official documents and which are uploaded by ARPA Piemonte and the National Fire Brigade as a result of control activities: This information may therefore not be continuously updated.
