PPR — Letter e) glacial circuses (tav. P2)
Description
The data, range, represents the location of glacial circuses. Circuses are semicircular basins due to glacial erosion and include morphoscultures different in appearance and extent, but accumulated by the appearance of “chair depression” with a steep fence, almost vertical with the classic amphitheatre shape, a concave floor and a threshold at the entrance consisting of rock and/or moraine. In plan the basin is usually almost circular. The dataset was created on the basis of the research “The glacial circuses of Piedmont”, carried out by the University of Turin on behalf of the Piedmont Region in 1995, starting from the cartographic base IGM 1:25,000
