Regional coordinationThe Civil Protection Volunteer is a valuable component in both forecasting and prevention activities, as well as in rescue activities.With the promulgation of Legislative Decree 112/98-, each Region has received tasks of planning, coordination and training of volunteers (through the Service Centres). Subsequently, the Regional Law 44/2000 and the subsequent Regional Law No 7/2003, identified the Provinces and Municipalities as protagonists of a series of responsibilities in this field.In the specific field, the Provinces, with the creation of the “provincial coordinations of volunteering”, have the task of aggregating the various existing local realities (municipal groups and associations) and of implementing exercises and training courses that meet specific needs in the territory, while the municipalities are involved in creating civil protection plans to operate both in the field of prevention and rescue, also through the use of municipal groups.For practical purposes, the Civil Protection is composed of Municipal/Inter-municipal Groups, which are established by resolution of the Municipal Council, and organised Associations; the social role is recognised through the establishment: – of the Regional Register of Volunteering-, currently managed by the Province- of the National List consisting of the sum of the territorial lists established by the regions and the central list established by the Department of National Civil Protection
