Description
The geological formations emerging in the Piedmont Region have been divided into three main categories according to the type of permeability: rocks permeable by porosity, fracturing and karst (i.e. those soluble to the action of water, essentially limestones and plasters).Depending on the geohydrological characteristics, the various formations have been grouped into hydrogeological series that can be divided into one or more Hydrogeological Complexes.The regional structure has therefore been reconstructed identifying six hydrogeological series, differentiated by depositional environment and age.
