Description
#####The national broadband plan – aimed at bringing connectivity from 2 to 20 mbps to all citizens – is being finalised.
It affected more than 8 million Italians who in 2008 were in a digital divide, i.e. were not covered by the basic connectivity service. The Plan involved almost all Italian regions, which also contributed financially to its completion. The resources used in the plan were in fact of a different nature: European (ERDF and EAFRD) national and regional. A synergy that has made it possible to achieve the Community target within the set timeframe, considering that – in line with the other Member States – satellite technology covers approximately 3% of the residual digital divide.
