Description
The risk of forest fires takes into account, in addition to the likelihood of the occurrence of fires, also the vulnerability of the regional territory.The risk is defined on the basis of two main components: the first is the likelihood of fires developing on the basis of past statistics and territorial characteristics; the second is linked to the vulnerability related to the anthropic presence (people and goods) in the territory.The risk index thus obtained defines the level of criticality of the territory compared to the regional average, which, by definition, is equal to 1. In Lombardy it varies from 0 to & 10 The source is the Regional Risk Mitigation Programme; of the Lombardy Region (D.G.R. n.7243/2008) that analyses the risks, individual and integrated, in the regional territory in order to identify the most critical areas on which to deepen the assessments carried out.For each type of risk the total risk, represented on specific maps, has been evaluated, which have been combined to generate a map of integrated risk and dominant risk at different scales. Maps are reworked whenever new and significant data updates are available on which the models used are based.
