Description
The map service allows the visualisation of the extent of the glaciers of Lombardy divided by mountainous sectors (Adamello, Bernina-Disgrazia, Orobie, Ortles-Cevedale, Piazzi-Campo, Tambò-Stella) at the following time thresholds: 1954 (from photointerpretation flight GAI 1954 by the DST UNIMI, Photogeology Laboratory), 1981 (from stereoscopic analysis by the UNIMI DST, Photogeology Laboratory of images taken in the years 1981, 1982 and 1983, reported on CTR 1981), 1992 (from surveys on the ground carried out by the Lombard Glaciological Service in 1989-90-91 and then published in 1992 in the Paper Regional Ice Cadastre), 1997-1999 (photointerpretation images of flight AIMA B/N 1997 and Terra Italy 1998-1999 by the DST UNIMI, Photogeology Laboratory), 13 September 1999 (by elaboration and classification of images of the Satellite Landsat TM performed by CNR IREA), 30 July 2003 (by elaboration and classification of images of the Satellite SPOT performed by CNR IREA), 2003 (by photointerpretation with thrust analysis of the glacialised surface of Terra Italy 2003 flight by DST UNIMI, Photogeology Laboratory), 2007 (from photointerpretation flight BLOM CGR 2007 by DST UNIMI, Photogeology Laboratory), 2012 (from photointerpretation Ortophotophoto Agea 2012 by the DST UNIMI, Photogeology Laboratory). For the years 2003 and 2007 it is also available the data relating to the length, the altitude difference and the minimum and maximum altitude (database populated by the UNIMI DST, Photogeology Laboratory).In the Map Service is also represented the 2013 Budget Index of several Lombard glaciers calculated by the operators of the Lombard Glacier Service. The index was calculated on the basis of budgetary data collected by operators on a limited but representative number of glaciers and was then extrapolated to the entire sample through a statistical approach. The index provides a summary of the glacial mass balance (positive, stationary or negative). A diagram showing the evolution of the budget index from 2000 to 2013 can be displayed through the query of the individual glacial areas (function “i”). With the same function you can also open a tab containing an image at a given date of each glacier, which you can download.
