TARTALAZIO - Regional Marine Turtles Network

Description

Tartalazio is a regional network of Lazio for the recovery, rescue, custody and management of sea turtles in accordance with the MATTM guidelines. The phenomenon of turtle strandings, of marine fauna in general, is a phenomenon of global interest. The Lazio Region, among the actions for the protection of protected fauna, has established the regional network for the recovery, rescue, custody and management of sea turtles pursuant to the MATTM guidelines. Named Tartalazio. This organization, without any commitment of expenditure, performs a clear and recognized reference function thanks to the operating protocol and the communication procedure between the bodies territorially competent in specific matters or in the field of environmental protection. The structure of the network is made up of the following bodies: Ministry of Transport Harbourmasters’ Offices, Naval Stations of the Guardia di Finanza, Ministry of the Environment, Ministry of the Interior: VVFF, State Forestry Corps: Command Cites, Port Authorities, ISPRA, IZLST, ARSIAL, ARP, Zoomarine onlus, Stazione Zoologica A. DHORN Napoli, State Nature Reserve ‘Isole di Ventotene e S. Stefano’, Regional Park Authority ‘Riviera di Ulisse’, Regional Park Authority ‘Monti Ausoni e Lago di Fondi’, Circeo National Park, Regional Nature Reserve ‘Tor Caldara’, Marine Protected Area ‘Secche di Tor Paterno’, Regional Nature Reserve ‘Macchiatonda’, State Nature Reserve ‘Saline di Tarquinia’. The bodies operate through the activation of emergency intervention for animals in difficulty, organized for sections of competence throughout the regional and island coast, by staff under the authority of the bodies trained and authorized to first aid sea turtles, which are then transferred to the First Aid Center Trust Onlus Zoomarine and the specialist clinic A. Dhorn in Naples.
