Ecological Status Coastal Marine Water Bodies 2015_2020 [ARPA Lazio]
Description
For the assessment of the ecological status of coastal marine water bodies, the environmental reference indicators provided for by Ministerial Decree 260/2010 are: Biological Quality Elements - EQB (phytoplankton, macrophytes, benthic macroinvertebrates, macroalgae and angiosperms) whose monitoring is planned differently for each station; Physico-chemical elements supporting biological elements: TRIX (dissolved oxygen and nutrients, together with the parameter chlorophyll a, are evaluated through the application of the TRIX index, in order to measure the trophic level of marine-coastal environments); Supporting chemical elements (other non-priority list substances). These indices are classified according to quality classes: ‘High’, ‘Good’ and ‘Sufficient’, except for the biological quality element angiosperm – posidonia oceanica, the status of which is expressed by ‘High’, ‘Good’, ‘Sufficient’, ‘Poor’ and ‘Bad’. Finally, the ecological status of the water body is classified according to the lowest class of the above indicators according to the schemes provided for by Ministerial Decree 260/2010.
