Delimitation to 50 meters of plants infected with Xylella Fastidiosa
Description
This cartographic level contains the boundaries with a radius of 50 meters from the localization points of the bacterium Xylella Fastidiosa (subspecies multiplex), as found on the regional territory since October 2021. Article 34 of Commission Implementing Regulation (EU) 2020/1201 of 14 August 2020, as amended, on measures to prevent the introduction into and spread within the Union of Xylella fastidiosa (Wells et al.) provides that the competent phytosanitary authorities must promote ‘awareness campaigns’, making available to the public, professional operators and anyone who may be affected, information concerning the nut organism and the threat it may pose to the environment in general and to the agricultural sector in particular. The rule also makes it clear that the information provision must also aim to include measures deemed capable, if adopted in specially delimited areas, of preventing and limiting the spread of infection, in the interests of a common interest. For this reason, the Phytosanitary Service of the Lazio Region geolocates the points of discovery of the bacterium, realizing around the points of the demarcated areas at 50m, 450m and 2550m, for which the eradication measures to be taken are established.
