Sentinel - Ascending - Monitoring of ground deformations through Satellite Interferometry

Description

Data with display limit at scale 1:50,000 - Enlarge to see geometries. The Lazio Region, as part of its institutional activities, through the CERI research centre of La Sapienza University of Rome, carried out satellite radar monitoring of ground deformations. The main objective of this activity was to provide an overview of the ground deformations present in the regional territory using satellite interferometric radar data acquired from the ESA (European Space Agency) Sentinel-1 constellation. The COSMO-SkyMed satellites are equipped with SAR sensors that acquire X-band images, with a spatial resolution of 3 m x 3 m. Both satellite systems (Sentinel-1 and COSMO-SkyMed) acquire in ascending mode (abbreviation “asc” in the file names) when the orbit is traveled from S to N, and in descending mode with travel from N to S (abbreviation “desc” in the file names).
